ICAS 2026 Assessments: Your Guide as a Parent
What Parents need to know: The ICAS is one of the most recognised academic competitions in Australia for the highest-performing students. ICAS tests students’ academic ability beyond the school curriculum, benchmarks their performance against national and international students, and offers students an indication of where they are relative to other Australian and international students through the ICAS Performance Report.
If your child enjoys tackling a difficult Math problem, shows a flair for reading, or excels in Science and Technology, ICAS offers students the opportunity to develop confidence and to acknowledge their achievement!

How can students best prepare for ICAS?
ICAS is based on a strong understanding, application and critical reasoning ability, rather than simple memorization of factual knowledge. Encourage your child to develop strong reading comprehension and vocabulary skills; strong mathematical problem solving and reasoning abilities; inquiry, investigation and scientific process skills; structured written communication skills; logic and abstract reasoning; and an understanding of a timed testing environment. This preparation is best done over an extended period.
